SHREDDED SURFACES
City Park | Structure Concept | New York
As incredible as Central Park is in New York City, residents are constantly wishing for more privacy, quietness, and escape from city life that impacts all aspects of living. To address this wishful thinking, the shredded surfaces project is here to serve this need. Soundproof, invisible geometry recreational area in central park for an authentic meditation experience.
The “Shredded Surfaces” concept explores the relationship between sound, space, and body. Designed to fulfill this wishful vision, the project introduces a soundproof, invisible-geometry recreational area in Central Park, offering an authentic meditation experience. The model creates an “out-of-city” atmosphere through invisible geometry paired with excellent acoustic insulation, allowing visitors to retreat into silence while remaining in the heart of Manhattan.
Landscaping plays a vital role in the design, shaping the site into a space where nature itself becomes a form of communication—freeing both body and mind. As extraordinary as Central Park is, New Yorkers often long for greater privacy, stillness, and an escape from the overwhelming pace of city life.
